4th and 5th Grade Science

Hey guys. Welcome to the world of blogging! I have included a website on plants for you to explore. Click on the link at the bottom of this blog. Take out your science notebook and take notes on what you read on the website, then, using your notes, answer the question at the end of the website on the Comments part of the blog and send to me. Sixth Grade Blogs

We have a lot of exciting news on our computer technology resources this year, including thirty new Chromebooks, faster internet service and a sixth grade teacher who has spent the summer learning some great ways to use all this new technology - including video chats, creating documents on Google Drive; like online surveys and quizzes, producing your own Google Earth tours and designing and using blogs like this one in our classroom! Here are just three ways we will be using blogs: 1. We will work together to design a Science Informational Text blog where I will list suggested informational books and articles on certain topics, such as ecology or astronomy, and you will be required to read a set number of these books and then write a book review on them. Your classmates and I will be asked to comment on your review/s. This will be a great way to share readings, recommend books, and better understand science. Plus, it's wicked fun! 2. As part of our science fair projects we will create a blog in which science fair partners can share information with each other and will also be hooked up with a local expert in the field each group is researching. This will allow your teacher to see your progress - much easier than your science fair journals - and allow you to reach out to experts and have them follow your entire scientific method and engineering process. 3. Yet another great way we will be using a blog will be to connect your family to our classroom. Imagine a blog that would show families what we are doing in our classroom - showing video or photographs - examples of your work - or even taking them along on our field trips - virtually of course!
